The CAG girls are some of the busiest in Prep – we have already begun our first two activities: Harvest Sale and supporting Children In Need! We hope to raise awareness of our school and all the good things we do within the local community.  We will work alongside other Action Groups in school to promote links within the local area in as many ways as we can.  We will also make choices regarding charities to support throughout the school year.

CAG Collection for the Simon Community

In the lead up to Harvest Sale, there was a collection for the Simon Community Northern Ireland, incorporating store cupboard essentials like tinned goods and toiletries used to fill “Welcome Packs.”  The CAG girls did a fabulous job helping to pack up the goods and load them on to the Simon Community collection van.  Well done girls!

'Walk a Mile in my Shoes' for 'Stand by Me'

On Friday 20th May, Prep took part in the “Walk a Mile in my Shoes” fundraiser in aid of “Stand by Me”.  Pupils walked a mile “around the block” with a heavy load of water in milk cartons.  This really gave us an insight into the work involved just in collecting water for countless children around the world.

Jonny Farrell, a worker for Stand by Me, came to assembly and led us in workshops teaching us the importance of clean water.  One water filter costs just £20 to assemble in Ethiopia, providing a family with clean, safe drinking water for two years and we know that the money raised will go towards making a lasting difference in the lives of children in Ethiopia.

Many thanks for your continued help and support for all our fundraisers throughout the year,

Mrs Glover and the CAG Girls

We welcomed back Jonny from Stand by Me to assembly on 29th June to accept a cheque for £575 raised through our "Walk a Mile in their shoes" event.  The cheque was presented by the CAG girls and we thank everyone for their generous support.

Carol Singing at Castlecourt

The Prep 5, 6 and 7 representatives from the Community Action Group accompanied the Prep 4 choir on a recent trip to Castlecourt Shopping Centre. While the choir sang Christmas carols and other well-known Christmas songs, the CAG girls merrily handed out chocolates and spread some Christmas cheer. We collected over £120 for Clic Sargent – many thanks to all involved, especially Miss McQuillan, Miss McKeag and Mrs McQuoid.
