The Fairtrade Action Group have been discussing how we can inspire people to use Fairtrade more. We would like to encourage our friends and family to choose Fairtrade where possible. We will therefore be supplying the refreshments after the Nativity so please support us by popping along and enjoy a Fairtrade tea or coffee. Thank you.
This action group gives the opportunity to develop the girls’ knowledge and understanding of global issues, learn about fair trade and become actively involved in making a difference to the lives of farmers and workers all over the world. We also aim to teach others how they can be involved in changing the world around them and promote the importance of using and buying Fair Trade products.
On Friday 10th March, the Fair Trade Action Group organised a whole school fun day to celebrate ‘Fair Trade Fortnight.’ The girls spent many weeks planning what activities there would be and how we could help others understand what fair trade is and why it is important. We started the celebrations with an assembly to raise awareness, then ran lots of fun stalls e.g. pin the banana on the country, nail and face painting, and guess the fair trade malteasers. Everyone had a fantastic time and we all definitely know what fair trade is now! A fantastic total of £150.12 was raised which will go towards our future events and to promote fair trade even more. Well done to the Fair Trade Action Group for all your hard work!
The Fairtrade Action Group wanted to find out what knowledge the girls in our school have already about fair trade. We decided to organise a fun survey where the girls had to move around the room to answer questions. We made our own posters, and then called out the questions and counted up how many girls selected each answer. It was lots of fun!
