The iTeam have been extremely helpful this term in organising storage issues on the iPads. They have helped delete Apps and photos and have also been sorting newly added Apps into folders to ensure the iPads are organised.
This term the iTeam enjoyed their trip to Castle Ward where they used the App Minecraft to recreate the old barn. Mrs Herriot and Mrs Armstrong were extremely impressed at the skill shown by all the team members. Since our trip, the P7 members of the iTeam have been assisting P4 with using Minecraft in their 'House and Homes' topic. The whole iTeam has also met to delete photographs from all the iPads to ensure our storage remains within the usable limits. A great first terms' work.
On Wednesday 25th October, the iTeam visited Castle Ward to explore using the App Minecraft. The girls were treated to a guided tour of the old Corn Mill and then were asked to use the App to try to recreate the mill. Both Mrs Herriot and Mrs Armstrong were very impressed with the outcomes of the task and are keen to encourage the iTeam to share their skill set throughout school over the next few terms.
The newly selected iTeam will be learning about the App 'Minecraft' and introducing it to Prep. To help us with our learning we are going to a Minecraft workshop at the end of October as Castle Ward, where we hope that we will hone our skills! iTeam will also be helping solve the storage problem on our iPads in school by collating and deleting any Apps that are no longer in use. We will also be deleting photographs and videos on a 6 weekly basis to ensure that we have enough storage at all times. Our photographs and videos will be stored within our new Seesaw digital platform.
The iTeam look forward to welcoming Mrs Stevenson as their new teacher leader from January. She will be working with the girls to test out a new range of coding Apps and work on the organisation of ensuring our iPads are always fully charged and ready for use for each class.
The newly elected members of the iTeam received specialist training from iTeach. The girls received iGenius t-shirts, certificates and badges and are looking forward to their trip to the Apple store.
The iTeam met for the final time at the start of June to review the year and discuss our main achievements and recommendations for moving forward.
We agreed that achieving the 'Digital Schools of Distinction Award' was the main highlight of the year and are extremely proud of this accomplishment. We agreed that the focus on next year should be on allocating team members to specific classes to offer their expertise and support on a more regular basis.
The iTeam enjoyed a special viewing of the Oscar nominated animation ' Song of the Sea' at the Nerve Centre. They then used the App, ' Animation Kids' to have a go at creating animation using drawing techniques. This workshop has further developed the girls skills in animation and will be a new App we can try in school!
The iTeam met to discusss "Scratch Junior" and our upcoming trip to the Nerve Centre for an animation workshop.
The 'iTeam' visited the Nerve Centre Belfast 'Into Film' festival on Friday 20th November. The girls enjoyed watching a private screening of the 'Shaun the Sheep' stop motion animation. They then worked in groups with the 'Lego Movie' App to recreate their own animation! We now hope to take our new skills back to school and share with our teachers and peers. Watch out Hollywood!
