The Welcome Team are always especially busy at the beginning of the school year. We have welcomed lots of new girls into our classes and have made sure that they know their way around school and always have someone to play with outside. Next term, we would like to update our Welcome Team film, which shows new pupils around our school and lets them find out a bit more about Victoria before they arrive on their first day. We hope this will help to ease any first day nerves new girls may have and also showcase how wonderful our school is!

The Welcome Team’s role is to help new girls settle into their classes, make new friends and show them where everything is around school. We enjoy playing with everyone and make sure every girl feels welcome in our school.
This year we would like to update our DVD for new pupils. We will be very busy writing a script, deciding on locations and practising our lines! We want every new pupil to feel they know a little bit about our school before their first day.
The Welcome Team have been very busy finding things out this half term. We held our own whole school assembly so that we could introduce ourselves to all of the girls in school, especially the new girls and we asked everyone to give us new ideas to make people feel more welcome. We have decided that we want to make welcome packs for new girls that join Victoria and we are working on making them individual for each year group. The Welcome Team have also taken on the important job of welcoming parents, students and visitors into the school in the mornings, we are working on a rota system alongside the Prep 7 prefects and feedback so far has been very positive.
The Welcome Team exists to support new pupils who join Prep and to create a warm and caring atmosphere within school. The Welcome Team aims are:
- To review and update the welcome packs that were previously provided for new students
- To liaise with new students and discuss their experiences of joining Victoria Prep
- To consider improvements that we could make to ensure all new students feel welcome in school
- To consider how students could be more involved in welcoming students, parents and visitors into school
The Welcome Team have been busy this term helping our new pupils to settle in to our school. At our last meeting, we had the idea of creating our own Christmas card. The Prep 7 Welcome Team girls are going to work together to design a Christmas card on the computer. Every new student in the school will receive a card, wishing them a happy Christmas from all of the Welcome Team.
The Welcome Team have been working very hard this term trying to come up with new ideas for welcoming new pupils to our school. We have decided that every new girl should be given a ‘Victoria Prep Survival Kit’ when they join. We brainstormed lots of ideas about what should go in these packs and came to a decision that each class should have their own individualised pack. Inside each pack will include a class photo, fun facts about the girls in the class, a map of the school using photographs, information about staff, and some small Victoria Prep gifts. We hope these will help new girls settle in and feel a little less nervous about joining a brand new class. We are still in the process of making these but keep an eye out for our Survival Kits next year!
The Welcome Team came up with the great idea of hosting a party for Prep 1 and the other girls throughout the school who have joined us in September.
We had games in the hall using the giant parachute and then had juice and popcorn. All of the new members of our school left with a party bag too! We hope it helped our new girls to feel welcome and to get to know a few more people.
