Space Whales:Mission Ocean
Today, we joined the Space Whales: Mission Ocean live lesson. The girls were highly engaged and enjoyed taking part in the interactive activities. We helped to design a satellite that could track whales and collect whale poo samples to help scientists monitor ocean health.
This linked well with our learning about plastic pollution, as we discovered that microplastics can be found in whale poo, showing the impact plastics are having on our oceans. We also learned how waste plastic can be recycled and used to create fuel for launching satellites instead of going to landfill.
The lesson made excellent links between our Space topic, maths and environmental awareness, helping us understand how science and technology can be used to protect our planet.
