Come fly with me...

We may not have been able to jet off to sunny skies lately, but Prep pupils enjoyed finding out about the role of a pilot and learning more about flight patterns, the impact of weather and aircraft design when Prep parent and TUI pilot, Mr McMaster led a series of workshops in each class. The younger girls transformed their classroom into an aircraft layout so they could practice being passengers, cabin crew and the pilot, whilst other classes created their own destinations and flight plans. Key Stage 2 pupils had a go at designing their own aircraft, then tested their paper planes to see which was the most aerodynamic. The highlight though, was trying on the prop pilot’s hat! Thank you to Mr McMaster and the TUI “Inspiring the Next Generation” for this experience.

Safer Internet Day 2022

Tuesday 8 February was Safer Internet Day across the UK. As well as completing some in-class activities to remind pupils how to stay safe when browsing online, our Prep Senior School Prefects led an assembly for all P4-7 pupils. They use the internet regularly for their schoolwork and social media, so they were able to highlight some of the things our pupils need to be aware of and – most importantly – to remind them how vital it is to tell an adult if they come across a website or speak with an individual online that makes them feel uncomfortable.

The Big Pedal

Get set… we’re taking part in Sustrans Big Pedal 2021, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs for 2 weeks from Monday 19th April to Friday 30th April and we would love everyone to be involved.

Sustrans Big Pedal

·         Is a great way to get children active, which is important for physical health and mental wellbeing.

·         Active school runs also help to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate.

·         Covid-19 has made active travel to school even more important. The Department for Education have said encouraging active travel to school helps “to enable pupils to be physically active while encouraging physical distancing.”

Plus there are some great prizes to be won every day if we get enough children taking part!

What do you need to do?

We want as many of our pupils and families to get involved in this event.

Encourage your daughter(s) to take active journeys to school on as many days as possible during the event, and join them on their way.

Should you live too far away from school to walk we do not want this to stand in your way of taking part.  So if you could drive part of the way but include a 10 – 15 minute walk, scoot or cycle to our school building then that will still count as active journey.
