Prep 7 Success at Flahavan's NI Cross Country Finals
Well done to our super team of Cross Country Finalists who qualified and took part in the NI Cross Country Finals at Mallusk Playing Fields.
Potato Book Day Fun
Prep went potato crazy for World Book Day. We ran a competition to design a potato in the style of a favourite book character. We were overwhelmed with the creativity of all our classes!
Banana Split!
Prep 6 celebrated the start of Fair Trade Fortnight by making Banana splits from Fair Trade bananas, sugar and chocolate! Delicious!
Fairtrade Fortnight
The Fairtrade Action group are leading our ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’ with a hamper raffle. Pupils have to guess the weight of the hamper to wind the goodies!
RSPB Big Bird Watch
Pupils across Prep took part in the annual Big Birdwatch. We are very lucky to have such wonderful grounds to observe so many different species of bird.
Prep 5 - Early Man
Prep 5 enjoyed a wonderful Early Man workshop with Event-full Days on 17 January. Rita had brought along a variety of activities where the girls learnt how to weave, made replica axes, and completed stone rubbings.
They took part in a fact-finding treasure hunt in the Great Hall, searching through the displays to answer questions about what life was like for early man.
The girls worked hard as they tried to grind wheat into flour using a flat stone, and they explored how early man built tombs to honour their dead.
There was also clay pot making and an opportunity to make a section of wattle and daub fencing, but the highlights were definitely when the girls got to test out shooting a bow and arrow and cooking over an open fire. A brilliant day to bring together all our topic learning.
